My little guy has turned 5!!

Well he turned 5 on January 29th but with kids getting sick, and mommy getting sick and trying to do a birthday party life has just gotten a little crazy! We had a really fun dinosaur theme birthday party. The kids found dinosaur eggs with babies in them, they broke a pinata, they played pin the teeth on the t-rex Josh made the coolest t-rex. The party was a hit!

Now its time to write about Kaels lovely birth experience. It was a Tuesday and I had my 36 week appointment, I had been put on bedrest a few weeks earlier because I had started to go into labor. I go to my appointment and they checked me and determined that I was in labor, so they sent me to the hospital. We went to the Hat first so I could get a yummy last meal before hospital food. Josh came a few hours later, they had me walking the halls to speed things up, but then they checked the baby and he was a little distressed so they had me stay in bed and on the monitors. I got and epidural sometime in the afternoon, it was the worst thing ever. I have a huge belly and trying to bend over on it during contractions was horrible, and it took the guy quite a few tries before he could get it in between where ever it needed to go, so I got jabbed with a big needle alot and could not stop crying. Finally he got it and it was like instant gratification. So I just labored away, my mom and Josh stayed the night at the hospital with me, I just slept all night long. Then at like 6 am a whole bunch of nurses came rushing in to wake me up. Kaels heart rate had slowed down alot it was so scary I could hear it getting slower and slower, and I was numb from the hips down so it was really hard trying to move me they finally got me on all fours and it still didnt help his heart rate. The next thing I know was the had all this paperwork for me to sign before the rushed me into a c-section, it was so rushed that they wouldnt let Josh go in with me. It was awful. So the start poking me with a needle to see if I could feel it and I couldnt so they started to cut me and I could feel that, I started to scream I can feel you cutting me, but they didnt have time to give me more juice for the epidural so they knocked me out. Apparently he was out in like five minutes. I didnt wake up till around 10am. I woke up in the operating room, I saw a nurse and I asked her "can I see my baby?", and she said no. It was just a horrible experience. I finally get back to my room to everyone telling me that Kael was having a hard time breathing and they need to take him to another hospital because they didnt have a nicu at the one I was at. So they finally brought him in to me to see for the first time before they took him away. He was long and skinny and he had all kinds of wires attached to him, and the nurse tried to pick him up so I could have a better look at him but I didnt want her to hurt him so I told her to put him down. Then they took him out and Josh followed them to the other hospital, and they moved me to another room, this room was right next to the nursery I could just hear all the other babies crying and so I started to cry as well. I remember wanting to go be by Kaels side at the other hospital but I was stuck healing at this one. I actually got to leave a day earlier partly because they needed the room and I was very persistent about going to see my baby. So I got to the other hospital and I finally got to hold him and I remember just balling when I finally got him in my arms, it was the greatest feeling ever. He still had all the wires on him and he was being a stinker and wouldnt eat so he had a tube through his nose to his tummy to feed him. I remember I was there when they had to put it through his nose and he just screamed bloody murder it was so sad, I was crying with him. He was in the nicu for two weeks and every time I left the hospital I just cried I hated leaving him there all by himself without his mommy to comfort him. It was probably the most horrible experience ever but I know every experience is for a reason, and now I have a healthy happy wonderful smart five year old boy that I thank Heavely Father for everyday.

Here are some pics of the birthday party
